There are many stunning islands in the world, and they are frequently visited by visitors throughout the year. To see these islands, people travel great distances. However, there is a similar island on Earth that you cannot visit, regardless of your desire. Because the country’s government genuinely feels that this island is exceedingly hazardous and that strange things are happening there. Poveglia Island is the name of the island, which is located in Italy. Travel to this island is prohibited by the government of Italy. Let’s find out what life is like on this island after all….
The Island of Death is another name for Poveglia Island. This island is situated in the Venetian Lagoon, which is split in two by a short canal, between the Italian cities of Venice and Lido. Once upon a time, this lovely island was a popular tourist destination.
Plague disease spread in Italy
However, something happened afterwards, and now nobody is permitted to visit this island. It is stated that most people who came here to discover Poveglia Island’s mystery never came back. In truth, a sickness known as plague was rapidly spreading throughout Italy in the 16th century, which resulted to a large number of deaths from the disease. Or they were close to passing away. The city of Italy itself experienced the disease’s greatest impact across all of Europe.
Quarantine station built on Poveglia Island
The Italian authorities made the decision to relocate all plague patients to Poveglia Island because the disease was quickly spreading from one person to another. This area served as a quarantine station for the plague because it was a remote island. Additionally, those who perished from this illness were buried on this island. This location became increasingly crowded with sick individuals, and at one point thousands of patients began to reside here. Sick persons were only permitted to stay at this quarantine station for a total of 40 days. But because of the dire circumstances, no one who had previously been taken to the island had any prospect of leaving and returning home.
160 thousand people were burnt alive
Some historians also claim that approximately 160,000 individuals were all burned alive on this island at the same time in order to lessen the number of sick people who were gathering there. A malady known as black fever struck this nation again not long after the deadly orgy of the plague, and once again Italy had to contend with an incurable illness. Similar to the plague, black fever had no known remedy in Italy. Due to the disease’s widespread mortality, the bodies of those who perished from it were transported to Poveglia Island and left there undisturbed. This had caused the location to resemble hell on earth.
Mental Hospital built in 1922
In 1922, a psychiatric hospital was erected on this island, which had previously seen thousands of fatalities. Then the occurrence of ghostly incidents on this island began to spread from here. The employees and patients at this hospital claim to have experienced and witnessed numerous ghosts and spirits on this island. Individuals on this island started stating that it was difficult to tell the difference between dead and alive people in this island at night since it was so perilous from a paranormal point of view. The local doctors claimed that strange noises had started to occur frequently at night and that stray spirits used to transport sick people here in their bodies.
Doctors and patients started dying
At that time, it was challenging for doctors to determine whether a patient had a mental illness or was possessed by a ghost. Meanwhile, more medical professionals and patients were passing very suddenly. This psychiatric hospital soon closed as a result. Then, a lot of people began flocking there to learn the secret. But the majority of those who visited this island never returned. But even those few who returned merely stated that this island is a literal living nightmare on earth. A person comes here of his own free will, but his ability to leave again rests on the kindness of the spirits that control this island.
It is called number 1 haunted island
It is referred to as the world’s most haunted island. This island has also been ranked as the most haunted location in all of Europe. The Italian government has outright forbidden the public from visiting this island because of these enigmatic factors. No one is permitted to enter, and no one would dare. Italian fishermen do not even fish near this island, let alone travel to it. because fishing nets here only contain human bones.
British researchers share experience
The British researchers Matt Nadine, 40, and Andy Thompson, 54, recently visited the island with authorization from the authorities, according to a report in “The Sun.” Additionally, he provided several images and videos of this island. This displayed every item stored at the mental hospital that the doctors utilized. Additionally displayed were the containers allegedly used to burn deceased remains. Going to that island, according to Matt, was a very unsettling experience. When we told our local Italian cab driver why we were traveling to that island, he also became frightened. Hearing the name of this island scares not only the cops but also the locals.
It was a very scary experience – British researcher Matt Nadine & Andy Thompson
As Matt continued, “You really get a sense of the trauma that’s happened there when you’re going around there. There were burn victims. Some of them were discovered in this state, already dead. When I look at that location, it appears that there are more corpses there than on the ground. Even after the people were burned, there was no cleaning. The deceased bodies were simply left. We heard the bell ring while we were there, which was pretty scary and seriously upset me. There were several plants and vines because no one had visited this location in years. It appeared as though we had come to see a horror movie being made. I am certain that I will never forget this event.
